1. Correct use is the basis

Measurement on machine tools should be cautious
When measuring parts on machine tools, be sure to wait until the parts are completely stopped before proceeding. Otherwise, not only will the measuring surface of the measuring tool wear out prematurely and lose accuracy, but it may also cause accidents.
Clean before measurement
Before measurement, the measuring surface of the measuring tool and the measured surface of the part should be wiped clean. The presence of dirt will seriously affect the measurement accuracy. In particular, precision measuring tools should not be used to measure forgings and castings or surfaces with abrasives, which will easily cause the measuring surface to wear out quickly.
Storage is particular
During use, measuring tools should not be stacked together with tools and cutting tools, nor should they be placed on machine tools casually. Vernier calipers, etc. should be placed flat in a special box to avoid damage due to collision, vibration or falling.
Avoid incorrect use
Measuring tools are measuring tools and must not be used as substitutes for other tools. It is wrong to use a vernier caliper to mark, a micrometer as a small hammer, or a steel ruler as a screwdriver to screw screws. It is also not advisable to wave or shake the measuring tool as a toy, which will cause the measuring tool to lose its accuracy.

2. The influence of temperature and magnetic field cannot be ignored

The precision measurement of parts must be carried out when both the parts and the measuring tool are at 20℃. Generally, it can be measured at room temperature, but the temperature of the workpiece and the measuring tool must be consistent, otherwise the measurement result will be inaccurate due to the characteristics of metal thermal expansion and contraction. At the same time, the measuring tool should not be placed in the sun, on the bedside box or near the heat source to avoid heat deformation and loss of accuracy.
Keep away from magnetic fields to maintain accuracy
Do not place precision measuring tools near magnetic fields, such as the magnetic workbench of a grinder, so as to avoid magnetism.

3. Maintenance and repair are the key

Promptly deal with problems when they are found
When it is found that the precision measuring tool has abnormal phenomena, the user should not dismantle and repair it by himself, let alone repair it with rough methods, such as hammering, filing, sandpaper polishing, etc., which will increase the error of the measuring tool. It should be sent to the measuring station for maintenance and continue to be used after the accuracy of the measuring tool is verified.
Daily maintenance is essential
After using the measuring tool, it should be wiped clean in time. Except for stainless steel measuring tools or those with protective coatings, the metal surface should be coated with a layer of anti-rust oil, placed in a special box, and stored in a dry place to prevent rust.
Regular verification to ensure quality
Precision measuring tools should be regularly calibrated and maintained. Precision measuring tools that are used for a long time should be regularly sent to the measuring station for maintenance and accuracy verification to avoid product quality accidents caused by excessive error in the indication of the measuring tool.
